Currently, it is still being used in research, but it has the potential for students to experience it at home or at school as a hands-on science lab. It also contains experiences where players can explore molecule creation in an immersive environment as well as play catalytic chemistry games. The VR Chemistry Lab is built on Xi theories (e.g., constructivism) and cognitive theories (e.g., embodied cognition). Designed to be a complementary tool to the real, physical, hands-on science experience that students typically have in school. In cases where students do not have access to these traditional physical experiences, VR chemistry labs can provide a similar learning Xi experience (Hu-Au & Okita, 2021).
